Welcome to the newsletter for Odyssey To Wholeness. This newsletter is a forum to discuss a wide range of issues regarding mind-body psychology. There is little, if anything, that does not affect the mind-body connection. That gives me, the author, wide latitude with an opportunity for fun. I rarely do things if they are not fun! If you would like to have a particular topic discussed, send me an e-mail.

Cellular Memory

Cellular memory is the concept that the energy of all that happens to us is somehow encoded within our cellular structure. Everything that happens produces energy. The energy of the event leaves its imprint within our cells. This energy trace, this memory, is there even when we don’t consciously remember the event. There is now research in the bio-medical field that is demonstrating the chemical change in cells due to memory. As this research continues we may have some hard scientific evidence in the controversial topic of repressed memories.

What I want to share with you is a personal experience of cellular memory. I just began seeing this wonderful naturapathic physician and medical intuitive Dr. Sylvia Flesner. Among all the supplements and cleansing programs she recommended, she gave me what seemed to be a very simple process. Take a bath once a week in my “normal” water level which contains 1/3 cup of sea salt, 1/3 cup of hydrogen peroxide and 8 cups of chamomile tea (made by boiling 2 tea bags for 15 minutes in water). Then all I was to do is use a washcloth, with no other soap, and massage my body in a circular motion telling my body how much I loved it. She asked that I do this once a week for about 20-30 minutes each time. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? I suggest you try it and discover if it is simple for you.

The first time I did this I was overwhelmed with sadness. I had not loved my physical body and have struggled with the way my body looks for the past 50 years. I thought I had come to accept it. Turns out I hadn’t. All the repressed sadness and feelings about not having a body that was up to “standards” came pouring out of me. I managed to stay in the bath for about 5 minutes. I did a great deal of releasing that day.

Now it is 10 days later–not 7. I did the bath again. This time I had coming up from me all kinds of memories of being spanked as a child. The pain, shame and confusion of those incidents came pouring out of me. I used the Soul Healing prayer continuously during this time. By the way, this all happened in about the 7 minutes I was able to stay in the bath. I still haven’t made it to 20-30 minutes.

We do have many memories “trapped” in our bodies. For our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health we need to release those memories. This bath is one way of doing it. Your experience will be different than mine. If you are intent upon healing yourself I strongly suggest that you do this bath.

Let me know what happens.
